In a brown little house in the city were a family of three, a sick single mother and her two wonderful smart girls. One was called Suzie, a ten year old, and the other was a 5 year girl called Ruby. Although both Suzie and Ruby were fatherless, they loved their sick mother dearly with their whole heart. Everyday, Suzie and Ruby would play on the street and beg for food and money from strangers, but the cruel strangers who passed by would spare nothing but rude insults.
One cold evening, Suzie was at home with her sick mother eating dinner while ruby slept on the small rug on the floor when they heard a knock on the door.
‘knock’ knock’
”I’ll get the door mom, no need to stand up” Suzie insisted.
Suzie’s mom spread a smile across her face and nodded.
Suzie skipped to the brown crooked door and opened it. There stood a man in a fancy black coat and trousers with a formal blue shirt holding a check book in his right while he put his left hand behind his back while standing stiff and bold like a waiter in a restaurant and a pretty young lady in a short white dress and held an expensive bag in her hands stood next to him .
”How can I help you Mister?” Suzie questioned the tall man.
”Good evening young lady,, may I see your mother?” the man questioned.
”That would be me” Suzie’s mom interrupted.
”kindly sign here please” the man instructed.
Suzie’s mom signed the papers ,went down on one knee while facing Suzie and said,
”Sweetheart there is something I need to tell you, this man over here is going to take you away”
”WHAT! WHY?” Suzie exclaimed.
”I was not able to give you and your sister the life you deserve because I am old and sick, but your father is rich so, I am sending you and your sister to Miami to live with him. and now you will be able to go to school and learn with kids your age and you can also play with real toys, not the ones I sew myself” Suzie’s mom confirmed, while tears of joy ran down her pale skin.
”I’m happy but what about you? if we leave you we will be motherless” Suzie cried
”Don’t worry about me, just take care of your sister, okay?” Suzie’s mom questioned
Suzie nodded her head and kissed her mother forehead. Suzie’s mom carried ruby in her hands and gave her to the pretty lady, and before she knew it Suzie and Ruby were at the airport and Suzie had explained everything to Ruby.
